Member survey highlights - Congratulations, Annaliese!

Congratulations, Annaliese Blair, the winner of the AAG Member Survey competition and recipient of a free registration to #AAGConf25 in Mparntwe, Alice Springs!

Thank you to the 148 members who responded to our survey, representing 12% of our total membership. Your contributions will support us to understand your needs and how we may provide you with the best value.

Of those who responded to the survey, 70% are wholly satisfied with their membership, with only one respondent unsatisfied. The majority of respondents (89%) are involved in AAG through attendance at AAG events, with 65% having presented at an event.

Main interests of respondents are research (84%), education/training (55%) and policy (43%), with the most popular focus areas including healthy ageing, dementia, intergenerational practice, allied health and clinical services.

In addition, the top five member benefits included access to: the AAG website (76%); webinars and events (68%); publications and grey literature (62%); the online community discussion board (58%); and special interest groups (51%).

We also take on notice the difficulties members expressed regarding 'clunkiness' of the AAG online community and a preference for more consolidated communications. We look forward to bringing improvements in these areas in future.

NSW Division Update - Reframing Ageing in 2025

With 2025 well underway, AAG's NSW Division is off to a great start! We are delighted to welcome some new and enthusiastic members to our Executive Committee this year.Together, we are in the exciting process of refreshing our subcommittees and the way we function as we create a bumper program of activities across the year.

In December 2024, the Division had the pleasure of celebrating AAG's 60th Birthday, holding a festive gathering at Karstens in Sydney's beautiful Rocks precinct to close out the year and mark not only six decades of leadership in ageing research and practice, but also the joy of the holiday season and the start of summer.

The event was a big success with great company, delicious food and plenty of laughs for members, non-members, old friends and new, and including a special welcome to incoming National President, Anita Westera. One of the biggest hits of the night was an interactive photo frame where we captured many fun moments that showcased the vibrant and dynamic spirit of our community under the theme: Reframing Ageing - One Snapshot at a Time.

We are also pleased to announce AAG member Elizabeth Cusworth as the 2024 Australian Association of Gerontology (NSW Division) Prize awardee for most outstanding academic performance in the Master of Gerontology at Charles Sturt University. Congratulations, Elizabeth!

The NSW Division's focus for 2025 is to build collaborative partnerships, grow our membership and expand engagement across NSW through events and professional development opportunities. Stay tuned for more upcoming workshops, forums and meet-ups designed to promote meaningful dialogue and collaboration in ageing and aged care.

We encourage members to invite colleagues and friends to our events, both members and non-members welcome. Please reach out to Joyce or Kim if you have any questions or want to be more involved at [email protected]. We'd love to hear from you!
